nickvac  |  |  |  The Philippines has 81 provinces. Dinagat Islands is an island group located on the south side of Leyte Gulf in the province of Surigao del Norte. Leyte is to the west, across Surigao Strait, and Mindanao is to the south. Dinagat is about 60 km from north to south and has an area of 801.65 sq. km. The province was created last December 2, 2006.Best known for its great rock climbing sites, white sand beaches and historic sites. It is the fifth province in the CARAGA Region.San Jose is the capital of this province, and is where the Headquarters of the Philippine Benevolent Missionaries Association, Inc., founded by Ruben Ecleo (who is now deceased) is at.Aside from San Jose, the other six towns that comprise the new province are :1. Basilisa (Rizal)2. Cagdianao3. Dinagat4. Libjo5. Loreto6. Tubajon
